Al Porto Ristorante is located in Gastown by the City's waterfront. Our meeting will be held in the “Wine Room”.
Please join us at our first meeting of the new year which will feature a presentation entitled: “Energy Efficiency in Building Construction:
Ideas and Innovations from Germany”, presented by Sascha Bardens and Svend Anderson.
This presentation will showcase technologies that have been developed and applied successfully in Germany to make buildings more energy efficient and in some cases, completely self-sustaining. The presentation will also provide an overview of the development of green building design in Germany and how sustainable construction strategies have been implemented in Germany. Finally, the speakers will discuss the leading green building innovators in Germany and provide further information and resources on this exciting area.
About the speakers:
Mr. Sascha Bardens has been the Managing Director of the Regional Office Western Canada of the Canadian German Chamber of Industry and Commerce since December 1, 2010. Based earlier in the Chamber's Montreal branch office, Mr. Bardens has been working with the Chamber for over four years. In his position as Managing Director of the Vancouver Office, Mr. Bardens is responsible for all matters regarding transatlantic business between Germany and the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta and is the key contact for the Chamber’s members
Mr. Svend Andersen is CEO of GHG Accounting Services and an environmental professional specializing in greenhouse gas accounting and emissions reduction technologies. Based in Vancouver, GHG Accounting Services is a business service provider in the areas of sustainable business practices, greenhouse gas reduction project management, carbon credits, carbon management and greenhouse gas accounting with a focus on Western Canada.

Happy New Year to everyone. Hopefully you all had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed the holidays with your families.
We celebrated a successful Christmas party
at the end of November. Thank you again to Werner Schoenberger for donating a case of sparkling wine which we gave away as door
prizes that evening and thank you to those of you who came out and supported the event!
We are looking forward to our first meeting of the New Year and please remember that if you are bringing a potential new member to the meeting they are invited to attend as our guests.
Finally, If you are planning to attend, we do need you to take the time to RSVP for yourself and any guests you plan to bring along. Please send me a quick email or give me a call as soon as you can but before February 2nd as we will need to provide the restaurant with a final head count so that they can have enough meals prepared. Thank you in advance for taking the time.
